Shifnal Town Council is responsible for the maintenance and the cutting of the grass at the following locations:
The Council maintain the closed part of the cemetery at St Andrew’s Church.
If a church of England churchyard is closed to further burials in accordance with an Order under the Burial Act 1853, responsibility for maintenance may be transferred to the relevant local authority. In such circumstances the transfer is compulsory.
For a number of years, Shifnal Town Council has been responsible for the maintenance of the closed sections of the churchyard at St Andrew’s Church. These areas are the ones where the headstones have been removed. The “open” section, the area to the left of the entrance when viewed from Innage Road, is still the responsibility of the church.
Shifnal Town Council has contacted the grass cutting to Brewood Landscaping Services.
All other grassed areas, verges and hedges are maintained and are a responsibility of Shropshire Council.
