Town Centre Enhancements Scheme
As many will be aware the regeneration of the Town Centre area is well underway. As part of this a number of trees were removed.
it is unfortunate that the trees needed to be removed but this started on 24th January 2022 to ensure that there were no issues relating to the nesting season.
As a result of removing the trees they identified problems that require rectification works.
The trees will be replaced with Acer campestre ‘Elegant’ and Liguidambar styraciflua ‘Stella’.
In addition to the replacement trees there will be increased planting including small ornamental trees, hedges, specimen plants, ornamental shrubs, bulb planting and grassed areas.
The resulting outcome will be a well designed and landscaped Town Centre area.
Shifnal Town Council have been informed that the Town Centre Enhancement Scheme will be finished by 18th November 2022.
Buses
Statement provided by Arriva on Thursday 4th August 2022
Arriva withdrew service 14 in April 2022. This decision was due to the decreasing numbers of customers using this service. Whilst we made every effort to keep this service running, the drop in customer numbers due to the pandemic has meant that the route no longer covers its operating costs. We’re sorry that we’ve had to make this decision, however we need to ensure that the buses we operate are financially sustainable going forward.
We advised Shropshire Council earlier this year of our intention to withdraw this section of route, and as the Local Transport Authority can provide an alternative solution, although they do have a limited budget. Banga Travel continues to serve Shifnal with their service 891, and Arriva still operates service 113 and 114. However, as the Arriva services are contracted and operated on behalf of Shropshire Council, they determine the routes and timetables we operate.
We are unable to make any changes to this service useless they provide us with approval to do so.
