Happy New Year

Here we go again!

Happy New Year to you all, may you find the perspective you seek in 2023.  A wise person once said ‘life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain’.

This is the perfect time to turn over a new leaf and follow your dreams.  No truer phrase than ‘out with the old and in with the new’ can be said about Shifnal over the last twelve months.  We have finally seen the end of the roadworks, the finished product is something we should be proud of. The Christmas Market/Light switch on  was the first Community event using the new area and this was a huge success.  The area again was used  for our returning ‘Carols in the Town’ which was another well supported Community gathering . The intention is to utilise the new  area for various events throughout the year so keep an eye out for the information  which will be posted on various social platforms in due course,  please support and enjoy.

In my role as Mayor I have had the pleasure of meeting a number of unsung volunteers who work tirelessly for various causes in the town.  Without their hard work and dedication Shifnal would not be the place it is.   A recent example of this was more than sixty volunteers who have been signed up to support the running of the Warm Welcome Spaces.   Well done and thank you to all those involved.

Moving forward into 2023 the Council have a number of exciting projects and initiatives which we are hoping to implement for the benefit of the whole Town.

I am a big believer in promoting community engagement and encouraging all external agencies to work collaboratively to provide the best outcome for everyone.  This is something I will be championing going forward.

I would like to wish all residents and businesses  a healthy and prosperous 2023.
